PORTLAND, Maine – Junior Achievement of Maine (JA Maine) is on track to impact 15,000 students throughout Maine this school year. It could not achieve this goal without the support of its partners, including M&T Bank, who has provided a $10,000 investment in JA Maine’s mission.

JA Maine is a resource in supporting Maine’s talent pipeline and securing a future workforce, while also addressing root causes of economic mobility by instilling skill sets and mindsets that empower students to envision choice-filled futures.

It does this by delivering learning experiences aimed at cultivating skill sets for work and career readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship to students. These learning experiences are brought directly into classrooms through a network of volunteers, as well as through job shadows and simulation challenges, who provide students with mentors they aspire to be like.

These experiences open students’ eyes to career opportunities available to them within the state, and the multiple pathways within an industry they could take when building a career. As a partner, M&T Bank sees the value in providing Maine students with these learning experiences and provides key support in helping JA Maine reach as many students as possible.

“We’re so grateful to M&T Bank for seeing the value of JA Maine’s mission, and becoming part of the solution to ensure students feel confident and prepared as they build their futures,” says JA Maine’s President & CEO, Michelle Anderson.

M&T Bank has locations throughout the East Coast, making banking with them convenient wherever one’s life or business is located, but keeps a local and community feel in each neighborhood it works out of. It’s committed to small business and local economy, regularly spotlighting the small businesses it works with. This focus aligns with the entrepreneurial and work and career readiness skills JA Maine delivers to its students to support them in seeing the opportunity to build a career and life in Maine.

“Teaching young students key skill sets early means greater success not just when they enter the workforce but throughout their lives,” said Phil Cohen, Maine Regional President of M&T Bank. “We’re honored to partner with JA Maine to provide these experiences to more than 15,000 students throughout the state and to help build and sustain a homegrown workforce right here in Maine.”
